I like the IK Pultec better than Waves, as well. Perfectly serviceable otherwise, as are the CLA-76's (bluey sounds better to me than blacky). The Black76 is probably only really excellent (i.e., convincing as an emulation) when crushing the life out of drums. It's super warming, and probably the darkest and most saturated of all the LA-2A plugins.

I'm very happy using it on vocals and I never used optos on vocals before this one. The Waves version is certainly usable but with IK's version, I was able to dial in an almost identical-to-the-hardware sound on a vocal (using the limit mode whereas the hardware was set to 'compress'). It's much sweeter sounding than Waves' and it has a sidechain to boot. T-Racks version is like 2nd or 3rd best of all the plugin emulations of the unit, behind Tim P's L-bus comp and maybe some others depending who you ask.

Very good snap/attack/action, but it's the harshest, narrowest sounding one of them all.
